Rap – Railroads (Part 5/6 of The Lost Star)
Note: this is part five of a series of raps (called 'The Lost Star') that, read together, tell an overarching story. Despite this, it's also readable as a standalone piece.
Everyone's looking for that which makes them whole,
But it's tragical when the search is the only thing they know,
She's still in transit, trying to find a place in this world,
She's so far from home and her desires juxtapose,
She can't return to her roots, she's come so far,
She uses those hard times to spark her heart,
Ignite those thoughts, turn ashes to fire,
Don't focus on the dark side of the moon, you'll miss the shooting stars,
At the train station, she ponders the destination of the railroads,
What if she didn't get on the one that's proposed?
What if she got on another and went to a place she didn't know?
Erase her past and present and flow with where she goes,
Imagine she was in a world where she's accepted by her peers,
Imagine she was hurled to a place she can make the most of her years,
Imagine she could embrace her true identity,
Didn't hold herself back, think “what’ll happen? We'll see”,
You can sit here and swallow those self caused wallows
Or you can channel those sorrows, create a better tomorrow,
You don't have to live like this, your best is still yet,
You've already lived long enough in a life of regret
